UP CM Yogi Adityanath has told the need to maintain balance in population along with efforts to control the population. On the occasion of World Population Day on Monday, he said, "Let the speed of increasing population of any one section be high and those who are indigenous people, their population should be controlled through awareness efforts."
"Concerns about the imbalance in countries with more population"
Yogi said, "In countries which have a large population, the imbalance is a matter of concern because religious demography has the opposite effect. After a time, chaos and anarchy start taking birth there."
"When we talk about family planning, we have to keep in mind that population control programs go ahead successfully, but the situation of demographic imbalance should not be created," he said.
"Both maternal and infant mortality rates are high in a particular category"
Yogi said, "All religions, classes, sects should be combined equally in an attempt to stop the population. In a particular class, both maternal and infant mortality rates are high. If the interval between the birth of two children is less than its effect. Maternal and child mortality will also be affected.
The CM said that the cooperation of religious leaders should also be taken to stop this. It will be successful only through collective efforts.
"It took millions of years to become 100 crores, 400 crores increased in 183 years"
Yogi said, "It took millions of years for humans to reach 100 crores, but it took only 183-185 years to reach 100 to 500 crores. By the end of this year, the world population is likely to be 800 crores."
He said, "Today's India is a country of 135-140 crore population. UP is the most populous state. Right now it has a population of 24 crores, which will cross the number of 25 crores in some time."
In the program, CM Yogi gave omen kits to newly married couples for family planning. Towel, mobile numbers of ASHA and ANM, condom kit, contraceptive pills, and pregnancy test kit have been kept in the shagun kit made of jute bags.
Draft ready for population control in UP
The draft related to the Population Control Act in UP has been prepared. State Law Commission Chairman Aditya Mittal handed over this draft to CM Yogi on 16 August 2021.
Key highlights of the draft:
Green cards should be given to those with two children and a gold card to those with one child. So that they do not have to show documents, again and again, to take advantage of government schemes.
The transgender child should be treated as handicapped. If one of the two children is transgender, the family will be exempted from the third child.
The parents limit the family to two children who are in government service. They should be given facilities like two additional increments, promotion, and exemption in government housing schemes.
Those who do not follow the policy should be stopped from contesting the district panchayat and local body elections. The benefit of any subsidy scheme should not be given.
