Plan to start trial on 2 to 5-year-olds

Last week, the company started a clinical trial study of Phase 1,2,3 of the vaccine in children between 6 months to 11 years. During this period, the first dose was given to children aged between 5 and 11 years. The company plans to start trials on children aged between 2 and 5 years from next week. The company plans to include 4,644 children in it. The results are expected by the end of 2021.

 

Another company Moderna is also trialing its vaccine against teenagers and children. Among them, separate trials are being conducted on children between 12 to 17 years and 6 months to 11 years.

 

Risk of harm to children from mutations

Experts have expressed apprehension that the coronavirus will continue to spread further and that it will mutate in a more dangerous form. One or more such mutations can be harmful to children as well.
