Poonam and Deepak are giving different statements
Delhi Police Crime Branch handed over Poonam and Deepak to Pandav Nagar police station on Monday itself for further investigation into the matter. The police station had presented both of them in court and sought remand for seven days, but the court has given remand for four days. Deepak and Poonam are giving different statements during the interrogation.
Deepak and Poonam used to join the crowd
The police are still looking for the weapon used in the murder of Anjan Das and other parts of the body. Police have already got both hands, both legs, the head and thigh of Anjan Das. According to police sources, during interrogation, Poonam Devi is saying that the murder was done by Deepak while Deepak is saying that he supported the murder at the behest of his mother ie Poonam. When the local police station started receiving pieces of Anjan's body from the Ramlila Ground, Poonam, Deepak, and other family members used to join the crowd and go to the spot and express sympathy.
It is alleged that Poonam, along with her son Deepak, made Anjan Das drink alcohol mixed with sleeping pills on the night of 30 May. Waited till he became unconscious. When he started feeling dizzy, Deepak came from behind and pressed Anjan Das's face with the opposite hand. After this, stabbing a knife into Anjan's neck with a straight hand left him. Being unconscious, Anjan could not protest. Later his throat was slit and severed. The dead body was left like this for the whole night till all the blood came out from the body. The next day, the dead bodies were cut into pieces, kept in polythene, and thrown away for three to four days.
