It was held on the spring equinox to mark the beginning of the blooming season. As time passed, many countries and ethnic groups along the Silk Road began to adopt this tradition.
The most important tradition during Nowruz is Haft-Sap. In this, the families gather and determine seven items. These items usually included wheat for rebirth and good fortune, wheat pudding for strength and power, olives for love, blackberries for sunrise, vinegar for longevity and patience, apples for beauty, and garlic for good healthcare.
