Nowruz is celebrated on 19 March. Nowruz is also called Parsi New Year. On the occasion of Nowruz 2024, Google has made a wonderful doodle which can be seen on its homepage. Nowruz means new day in Parsi. Nowruz also marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. On the day of Nowruz, the length of night and day is almost equal.

Google has included vibrant elements of Persian culture in its doodle today. The doodles feature intricate floral designs as well as traditional calligraphy, and symbolic objects such as the Haft-Sin table. Let us tell you that Haft-Sin is a special table setting that includes seven items whose names begin with the letter "sin" in Persian each representing an important concept for the coming year.

According to Google's blog, the custom of celebrating Parsi New Year is about 3,000 years old. It first originated in ancient Iran (then Persia). It was held on the spring equinox to mark the beginning of the blooming season. As time passed, many countries and ethnic groups along the Silk Road began to adopt this tradition.

The most important tradition during Nowruz is Haft-Sap. In this, the families gather and determine seven items. These items usually included wheat for rebirth and good fortune, wheat pudding for strength and power, olives for love, blackberries for sunrise, vinegar for longevity and patience, apples for beauty, and garlic for good healthcare.
