Gyanvapi Case: Hearing in Gyanvapi Masjid case will be held in Supreme Court today, read update

A hearing in the Gyanvapi Mosque case will be held in the Supreme Court today. Earlier on May 17, the matter was heard in the Supreme Court. Anjuman Intejamiya Masjid challenged the decision of the Varanasi court by filing a petition. The Varanasi court had ordered a video graphics survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex.

 

Supreme Court order

 

During the hearing, the court had given an important order. The court directed the security of the place where the Shivling was found in the Gyanvapi Masjid. The court also said in its order that there would be no bar for Muslims to go to the mosque and offer prayers. The court also issued notice to the Hindu side on the petition of the Masjid Committee. However, the Supreme Court has turned down the demand of the Masjid Committee to stay the hearing of the lower court.

 

UP government asked for time

 

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared on behalf of the UP government on Tuesday. Tushar Mehta had sought time from the court to share complete information. After which the Supreme Court had given the date of Thursday. Tushar Mehta had said that Shivling has been found in the Vazukhana of the mosque in the survey and that place is for washing hands and feet.

 

Muslim side's argument

 

The counsel for the Muslim side had said in his plea that how the premises could be sealed. He called the orders illegal. The lawyer had also said in the argument that it is like sealing the property without listening to us. You are also limiting the place of prayer in the mosque.
