The petition for the right to worship in Qutub Minar is to be heard in Delhi's Saket court today. However, the Archaeological Survey of India opposed this petition saying – Qutub Minar is not a place of worship and its current status cannot be changed. The ASI has reportedly opposed the petition filed for the restoration of the temples.
Imam's allegation ASI also stopped Namaz
Even before this, the Imam of the Minar Ki Masjid, Sher Mohammad, has alleged that the ASI has also stopped offering Namaz from May 13. Namaz was held in the small Mosque built on the right side of the main gate of the minaret. Namaz was started here again in 2016. Initially, 4-5 people used to offer Namaz here but gradually their number reached from 40 to 50.
No decision yet on the excavation of Qutub Minar
Culture Secretary Govind Mohan and a delegation of ASI officials visited the site last week, while officials said the visit was routine. Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy said that no decision has been taken yet on the excavation at Qutub Minar.
The answer to ASI is - Can not give the right to worship
On the petition filed in the court, the Archaeological Survey of India has filed its reply in the Saket court. It has been said that the petitions of the Hindu side are not legally correct. Building the Qutub Minar complex by demolishing the old temple is a matter of historical fact. Qutub Minar has got the status of a protected monument since 1914. His identity cannot be changed nor can worship be allowed there now. There has never been worship here since it was preserved.
This is the whole matter The matter arose when it was said that the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque built in the Qutub Minar complex was built by demolishing a temple. The Hindu side had demanded the restoration of this 120-year-old temple. The petition also alleged that around 27 Hindu and Jain temples were desecrated and damaged during the reign of the Mughal emperor Qutb-din-Aibak in 1198 and this mosque was built on the site of those temples.
