AMD always has exciting announcements at Computex and this year is no different. AMD has announced the launch of the new AMD Ryzen 7000 Series desktop processor based on its new 'Generation 4' microarchitecture. It will be manufactured on a customized 5 nm process node from TSMC. The new desktop processor will also have an AM5 socket with the new 600-series chipset-based motherboard. Also included are new notebook designs, Ryzen "Mendocino" and execution of Microsoft's DirectStorage API. The AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors will be formally launched in Fall 2022, which is late Q3-to-Q4.

AMD RYZEN 7000 Series Desktop Processors:

The AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs will feature AMD's new "Generation 4" microarchitecture that is promised a more than 15 percent uptick in single-threaded performance. Its calculation was compared to the AMD Ryzen 5950X (16-core)'s Cinebench R23 score with a dual-channel DDR4-3600CL16 memory configuration with the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series (16-core) included with a quad-channel 2x16 GB had gone.

It is said that the peak clock speed will also cross 5 GHz and the processor will now feature AI acceleration with an extended instruction set. AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors, with desktop processors up to 2x chiplets or CCDs (Core Complex Dice), will depend on the chipset design.

Real Basic Calculations are not disclosed within the CCD. Most of the new changes are focused on the I/O die which is now based on a 6 nm process node and will have AMD RDNA 2 integrated graphics that enable each AMD Ryzen 7000 series processor to provide the display signal without any need. Also new are the DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 controller within the Discrete graphics card I/O.

New AMD will get 1718 pin LGA:

AMD is removing the pins at last and moving from PGA to LGA with the new AMD AM5 socket. The AM4 socket had 1331 pins and with AM5, this is going up to 1718 giving AMD a lot more signal, power, and ground pins to play with. However, AMD has said that the dimensions of the cooler will not change with the introduction of the AM5.

The new socket will be accompanied by the new X670 Extreme, X670, and B650 chipsets that will enable the board classification of motherboard designs. The top-of-the-line chipset will be capable of 24 PCIe lanes for storage and graphics, will feature 14 SuperSpeed USB ports at up to 20 Gbps, support for up to 4 HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2 ports, and Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth Low.

The X670 Extreme or X670E chipset will have two PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 slots for graphics cards and one PCIe Gen 5.0 M.2 slot for storage devices. The X670 chipset will have a similar set of x16 slots but an option for a PCIe 5.0 graphics card but a PCIe Gen 5.0 M.2 slot for storage. The B650 chipset is also the same but there is no PCIe Gen 5.0 option for the graphics card. You'll find one PCIe Gen 5.0 storage option across the stack. This is a very confusing division of facilities.

PCIE GEN 5.0 M.2 NVME Storage:

There are no PCIe Gen 5.0 NVMe storage devices on the market as the drive is still being worked on, but AMD revealed that some controllers, such as those already made by PHISON, have over 60 percent faster sequential reads on the AMD AM5 platform. Have managed to get the speed.

AMD Smart Access Storage:

Microsoft recently released the production variant of the DirectStorage API which is geared to take maximum advantage of the new generation of faster NVMe SSDs. Video games are shipping with heavy files that enable game developers to create large-scale virtual worlds with life-like graphics. The old storage medium had low bandwidth and the controller could only handle low I/O requests. Not so with the new-generation NVMe SSDs. Microsoft is rolling out the DirectStorage API in Windows 11, but it requires the storage device as well as overall platform compatibility. AMD SmartAccess Storage is AMD's way of ensuring this.

AMD RYZEN 7000 Series Processor Launch Date:

AMD has announced Fall 2022 as the launch window for the AMD Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors. The launch date could be between September 23, 2022, to December 21, 2022.
