Himachal Weather: 1239 roads closed in Himachal, 1400 bus routes suspended, milk-bread carts sent back from Parwanoo

In Himachal Pradesh, there has been an outcry due to torrential rains for more than 72 hours. Within two days, 21 people have lost their lives. Eight more people died on Monday while six have been washed away in swollen rivers and drains. Monsoon reached Himachal on June 24, and so far 63 people have lost their lives. Due to landslides, 1239 roads were blocked for traffic in the state till 10:00 am on Tuesday. 2577 power transformers have also stalled. 1418 water supply schemes are also lying closed. The concerned departments are engaged in their restoration. A maximum of 581 roads are closed in Shimla, 200 in Mandi, 116 in Chamba, 101 in Sirmaur, and 97-97 in Hamirpur and Lahaul-Spiti.

 

Similarly, 673 power transformers in Mandi, 821 in Shimla, 447 in Sirmaur, 206 in Lahaul-Spiti, and 261 in Kinnaur are lying closed. At the same time, due to heavy rains, the holy journey of Shrikhand Mahadev has also been postponed. Passengers trapped in tents in the middle of the road will be brought back as soon as the weather clears up. There has been a cloudburst again in Kullu district on Monday. 100 bighas of land have been washed away due to a cloudburst in Falan of Lagghati. The government telegraph in Spain has also been damaged.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who reached Mandi on Tuesday morning, said that we will be able to move ahead in 24 hours. Drinking water arrangements are being made at some places in the market. 1300 to 1400 bus routes are suspended in the state. The situation remains most serious in Kullu, all routes are closed in Kullu. State government buses are parked at safe places due to which there is no damage to the buses. Work is on to restore Kullu and the waterlogged situation in Mandi is being rectified. Wherever people were stranded, they have been evacuated. Contacts are being added from all sides.

 

  Kalka-Shimla highway closed, and two houses collapsed in Shamti

On the other hand, due to the closure of the Kalka-Shimla highway, people are standing at Parwanoo, the entrance gate of the state, since late at night. Thousands of people are waiting for Kalka Shimla NH to open. All the milk-bread trains going to Solan, Shimla, and other places have also gone back from Parwanoo. Due to this the miseries of the people have increased. Kalka Shimla Highway is closed at Chakki Mor, Koti and Sanwara. The highway collapsed at Chakki Mod. At the same time, two houses collapsed in Solan's Shamti on Tuesday morning. It is a matter of pride that these houses were vacated late at 3:00 pm. A large amount of debris fell on the houses. Due to this, the Solan-Rajgarh road was also blocked.

 

  Chief Minister will do an aerial survey

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will conduct an aerial survey of the damage caused by the rains in Kullu and Lahaul. Apart from this, the rescue operation of 300 people stranded in Chandratal has started from 5:00 am today. The first team has left for Chandratal from Losar with machinery, while the second team headed by ADC Rahul Jain has left from Kaza. The rescue team of about 40 people including youths from Pangmo and Losar villages besides youths from other villages of Spiti.

Jagat Singh Negi visits Mandi town, Pandoh, and surrounding flood-affected areas

 

Today, the road towards Chandertal will be opened from Kunzum Top, four kilometers behind. The road of more than 30 kilometers is obstructed by snow. Members of the Spiti Administration, ITBP, BRO, and Police are also involved in the rescue team. The Bharmour-Pathankot highway has sunk 200 meters near Bagga. This has increased the problem. The villagers have to move on foot. The Teesa-Chamba road has been blocked near Kalhel.

 

In Mandi, Horticulture and Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi visited Mandi town, Pandoh, and surrounding flood-affected areas in the early hours of Tuesday to take stock of the situation. During this, CPS Sanjay Awasthi, President of APMC Mandi Sanjeev Guleria, and Collector Arindam Chowdhary also accompanied him.

 

He went to Hanuman Ghat in Mandi and talked to the flood-affected people in other areas. During this, he said that the state government is standing shoulder to shoulder with all the people affected by the flood. He said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is personally monitoring the situation. Everyone's safety is the priority of the government. The minister also reviewed the relief and rehabilitation works for the affected and gave necessary instructions to the district administration.

 

4,000 crore loss in Himachal so far

Himachal has wreaked havoc due to heavy rains for three consecutive days. So far 59 people have died and the loss is estimated at Rs 4,000 crore. Thousands of people are stranded in Kullu-Manali, Mandi, and upper areas of the state. Electricity, phone, and internet services have also come to a standstill in most of the districts. 100 bighas of land turned into a ravine due to a cloudburst in Kullu.

 

Several vehicles were washed away in Manali. Beas river is in spate in Mandi. 113 houses were evacuated. Seven National Highways and more than 828 roads are still closed. Train and air services have come to a standstill. 403 buses are stuck at various places. Monday-Tuesday has been declared a holiday for the Himachal High Court. The leaves of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff have been canceled. The holy journey to Shrikhand Mahadev has also been postponed.
