IND vs NZ: India have won 87 percent of the matches in the current T20 World Cup, find out how New Zealand have fared so far.

India and New Zealand are close to winning the T20 World Cup title. The final match between the two teams will be played on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While the Indian team will be aiming to successfully defend its title, New Zealand will be looking to win the trophy for the first time. India has reached the final for the second consecutive time and fourth time overall, while this is the second time the Kiwis will be playing in the title match of this tournament.

 

 

India and New Zealand played a series before the World Cup

Just before the start of the T20 World Cup, a five-match T20 series was played between India and New Zealand. India performed brilliantly in that series, defeating the Kiwis 4-1. However, they did not meet in the current T20 World Cup, and now the two teams will face each other for the title.

 

 

How was the record of both teams in Ahmedabad in the current tournament?

The T20 World Cup 2026 was hosted by India and Sri Lanka. India played seven of its matches at home, while its match against Pakistan was played in Colombo. Meanwhile, New Zealand played five matches in India and three in Sri Lanka. Interestingly, both teams have played T20 World Cup matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India has played two matches at this venue so far in the current tournament. In the group stage, the team defeated the Netherlands, while in the Super Eights, it lost to South Africa at the same venue.

 

 

Regarding New Zealand, the team played one match in Ahmedabad. In the group stage, it lost to South Africa by seven wickets at this venue. Considering the overall performance of both teams in the tournament, New Zealand won five out of eight matches, lost two, and one match was washed out. India, on the other hand, won seven out of eight matches and lost one. India lost its only match in the tournament, against South Africa, also in Ahmedabad.

 

 

The defeat to South Africa was a setback.

India was placed in Group A and defeated the USA, Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands in the preliminary stage.

 

India topped the group stage and advanced to the Super Eight.

 

In the Super Eight, India lost to South Africa in their opening match, but defeated Zimbabwe and the West Indies to advance to the semi-finals.

 

India then defeated England by seven runs in a thrilling semi-final, advancing to the title game for the second consecutive time.

 

New Zealand was once on the verge of elimination.

New Zealand was in Group D. They defeated Afghanistan, UAE, and Canada in the group stage, but lost to South Africa.

 

The team's first match in the Super Eight was against Pakistan, which was washed out due to rain.

 

In the next match, the Kiwis defeated Sri Lanka to strengthen their claim for a semi-final spot.

 

New Zealand's defeat to England in the Super Eight match dealt a blow to their campaign. At that point, the team was on the verge of elimination.

 

Pakistan had to restrict Sri Lanka to 147 runs to eliminate New Zealand based on net run rate, but this failed, and the Kiwis managed to reach the semi-finals.

 

In the semi-finals, New Zealand defeated South Africa in a one-sided manner and entered the final for the second time.
