India has done wonders again with the SpadeX mission. The 44.5-meter-long Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C60 rocket took off successfully with two small spacecraft, a chaser and a target, from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 10 pm on Monday. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said, "Both spacecraft have separated successfully. Chaser and target have been placed in orbit."
Spacecraft have been placed in a circular orbit.
Mission director M. Jayakumar said that the mission was successful. ISRO chief S. Somnath said, "The rocket has placed the spacecraft in a circular orbit of 475 km after a 15-minute flight. It is expected that the docking process will be completed in the next week, probably on January 7.
India becomes the fourth country to demonstrate docking and undocking capability.
With the Spadex mission, India will become the fourth country to demonstrate docking and undocking capability. At present, only three countries in the world - America, Russia, and China - are capable of docking spacecraft in space. Joining a spacecraft with another spacecraft is called docking and the separation of two spacecraft connected in space is called undocking.
ISRO started this year with the launch of Mission Exposat, which studies X-ray rays in space. A few days after this, it achieved success in its first sun mission 'Aditya'. Now India has also ended the year with the launch of such a mission which is very important to achieve the country's ambitious goals in space on its own strength.
These goals include bringing samples from the moon and, the Indian Space Station (BSS). According to scientists, after traveling at the same speed and distance, both the spacecraft will join together at a height of about 470 km. In the coming days, an attempt will be made to join them by reducing the distance between the two spacecraft. It is worth noting that the launch was earlier scheduled for 9.58 pm. It has not been informed why the launch was postponed for two minutes. The 25-hour countdown for the launch began at 9 pm on Sunday.
This mission is extremely important.
This is an important technology for future human space flight- This is an affordable technology demonstration mission for docking in space- Necessary for sending humans to the moon and bringing samples from the moon- India will also be self-reliant in the construction and operation of the space station- ISRO plans to establish its space station by 2035- This technology will also be needed if more than one rocket is launched for a mission.
How will success be achieved?
The two spacecraft SDX01 (chaser) and spacecraft SDX02 (target) will be placed in an orbit that will keep them five km away from each other.
Later, scientists at ISRO headquarters will bring the two spacecraft closer and join them at an altitude of about 470 km from the Earth.
Both spacecraft have payloads.
Both spacecraft weighs 220-220 kg. SDX01 has a high-resolution camera.
SDX 02 has two payloads, a miniature multispectral payload and a radiation monitor payload.
These payloads will take high-resolution images and help in monitoring natural resources.
The spacecraft will orbit the Earth for two years.
An attempt will also be made to create 'another poem of success'.
Along with this mission, scientists will also conduct experiments under POEM-4 i.e. PSLV Orbital.
Experimental Module-4. India has already conducted such experiments three times.
For these experiments, PSLV-C60 is carrying 24 payloads with it, out of which 14 are from various ISRO laboratories and 10 are from private universities and start-ups. There is a plan to study the growth of spinach in the space environment.
Debris Capture Robotic Manipulator will demonstrate the ability to capture debris in the space environment. Earlier, ISRO had conducted a similar successful experiment using the PSLV C-58 rocket in POEM-3 and the PSLV-C55 mission using POEM-2.
It will also help in dealing with the problem of space garbage ISRO's POEM mission will also help in dealing with the problem of space garbage. Actually, POEM is an experimental mission of ISRO, under which scientific experiments are conducted in orbit using the PS4 stage as an orbital platform.
PSLV is a four-stage rocket. Its first three stages fall into the sea after use and the last stage becomes junk in space after launching the satellite into orbit. Under POEM, this fourth stage of the rocket will be used to conduct scientific experiments.
