Amidst the controversy over the procession on Ram Navami, BJP has made a big claim. BJP MP and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said that the Ram Navami procession was attacked in the Park Circus Seven area of Kolkata. Stones were pelted on vehicles carrying saffron flags. At the same time, Kolkata Police said that no permission was taken for any procession.
Union Minister and Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar wrote on Twitter that Hindu devotees were brutally attacked in the Park Circus Seven Point area of Kolkata when the Ram Navami procession returned. Stones were pelted on vehicles for carrying saffron flags. The windshields were broken. Chaos was spread. This was not accidental but targeted violence. And where was the police? It was just watching. It was silent and spineless. The same police force that was chosen by Mamata Banerjee herself. It has been completely paralyzed by the politics of appeasement. Not a single step was taken to protect innocent Hindus.
Sharing the video of the vandalism in the car, he wrote that this cowardly inaction proves one thing the roar of united Bengali Hindus during Ram Navami has shaken the system. Mamata's Ladli Shanti Vahini is not peaceful, they are nervous. Scared! This is just the beginning. We promise Kolkata that next year an even bigger, louder, and more powerful Ram Navami procession will pass through Park Circus. And the same policemen who remained silent today? They will shower flowers on us. Pay attention to these words.
Police's response
On the BJP's claim, Kolkata Police said that when they received information about the vehicle being damaged, they immediately reached the spot and handled the situation. Police wrote on X that about the alleged incident in Park Circus, it is clarified that no permission was taken for any procession, nor did any such activity take place in the area. On receiving information about the damage to the vehicle, the police immediately intervened and restored order. A case is being registered to investigate the matter. People are appealed not to pay attention to any rumor.
BJP leader hits back
BJP leader Tarun Jyoti Tiwari hit back at the police over the police's response. He asked if permission was required for anything in Park Circus. He asked if was any permission taken for the meeting organized in protest against the Waqf Amendment. On Friday, members of the minority community protested against the Waqf Bill at Park Circus Crossing.
