After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India carried out Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and PoK, after which Pakistan tried to attack India with drones and missiles. Since then, tensions have increased between the two countries.
Meanwhile, exiled Pakistani leader and founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help. He has requested PM Modi to save the Muhajirs.
What was the request?
Altaf Hussain requested PM Modi to raise the issue of persecution of Urdu-speaking refugees i.e. Muhajirs who came from India to Pakistan after partition at the international level.
Hussain made this appeal during a program in London. He also praised PM Modi for supporting the Baloch people and called it a courageous and morally commendable step.
Altaf's allegations on PAK
Altaf Hussain has urged PM Modi to raise his voice for the Muhajir community as well. He said that the Muhajirs have been facing oppression and discrimination for decades, which is completely state-sponsored.
He said that since the partition of India, the Pakistani military establishment has never fully accepted the Muhajirs as legitimate citizens of the country. MQM has been continuously advocating the rights of the Muhajirs, but till now more than 25000 Muhajirs have died in military action and thousands have disappeared.
'The voice of the Muhajirs is being suppressed'
Altaf Hussain said that Pakistani Consul General Aftab Chaudhary in Houston, USA presented a video during the program, in which Altaf and MQM have been shown as agents of India.
Altaf said that Pakistan is trying to suppress the voice of the Muhajirs by making such allegations. He said that PM Modi should raise the voice of the Muhajirs at the international level and international human rights organizations should protect the fundamental rights of the people of the community.
