US Ambassador Eric Garcetti said on Wednesday that the US wants India to be its best friend. He said that the change of leadership in the White House would not change the relationship between the two countries.
Without naming China, Garcetti said that if New Delhi has to compete with regional powers, it will have to reduce its dependence on any one country and said that such dependence is not only an economic risk but also a security risk. At a program of the Milken Institute, the ambassador called on Americans to invest more in India. He also made it clear that there will be no change in the relations between the two countries shortly. He said, there will be a new president in America, but America's loyalty and friendship towards India will not change. Garcetti said that the nature of our relationship has changed. America has always stood with India in times of crisis. He welcomed India's efforts to establish peace between Russia and Ukraine.
