After a year-long wait, the Indian women's cricket team finally won its first ICC World Cup title. Team India created history by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final. Now, everyone's eyes are on whether the Indian women's team will have a similar celebration after winning the World Cup for the first time, just like the victory parade that was held after the Indian men's team won the T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia revealed his plans regarding this.
What did the BCCI Secretary say about the Indian women's team's Victory Parade?
In fact, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told news agency IANS that there are no plans for a victory parade at the moment. I am leaving for the Dubai ICC meeting, and other officials will also be going. Celebrations will be planned only after I return.
Devjit also stated that since India has not yet received the Asia Cup trophy, he will now raise the issue with the ICC so that the trophy can be returned to India with due respect.
He stated that he will raise the matter of the Asia Cup trophy with the ICC and hopes to return it with due respect.
The 2025 Asia Cup Trophy Has Not Been Received Yet
On September 28, 2025, Team India defeated Salman Agha's Pakistan team by 5 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium to win the 2025 Men's T20 Asia Cup. However, after the victory, India refused to accept the trophy and medals because ACC Chairman and Pakistan's Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi was supposed to present the trophy.
Tensions have been brewing between India and Pakistan since the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Consequently, Team India refused to accept the medals and trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. Following this, the BCCI complained to the ACC about the matter, and Mohsin Naqvi presented the trophy in Dubai, but the matter remains unresolved, and India has not received the trophy.
India Women's Cricket Team: Will a Victory Parade be held?
It is believed that a victory parade will be unlikely, as when the Indian team wins a final match in a foreign country, a victory parade is usually held to celebrate the Indian players' homecoming and victory. In the 2011 ODI World Cup, played between India and Sri Lanka, Team India won by 6 wickets. This match was also played in Mumbai, but no victory parade was held after that. It will be interesting to see whether a victory parade will be held or not.
