Despite winning the match against Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium, Lucknow captain KL Rahul has not got a chance to celebrate much. A fine of Rs 24 lakh has been imposed on him for slow over-rate. This is the second time this season that KL Rahul has been fined for his slow over rate. Since this was the second such offense for the team, apart from Rahul, the rest of the team members have also been fined.

 

The rest of the team members will have to pay a fine of Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee. Lucknow captain KL Rahul needs to be more careful in the coming matches as if he makes the same mistake for the third time, he could face a fine of 30 lakhs or even a one-match ban.

 

Talking about the match, batting first after losing the toss, the Lucknow team scored 168 runs based on KL Rahul's brilliant century while batting first but Mumbai's team completely failed to achieve this target and set Only 132 runs could be scored in the over for the loss of 8 wickets. In this way, Lucknow won this match by 36 runs.

 

This is Mumbai's 8th consecutive defeat this season and now they are out of the race for the playoffs. With this, Mumbai is the first team that has lost the first 8 matches.

 

What does the rule say?

 

The official rules regarding slow over rate state that if the captain of the bowling team maintains the slow over-rate for the third time, he can be banned from playing the next match with a fine of 30 lakhs.
