'Bangalore Days' is a Malayalam film released nine years ago starring actors like Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nivin Pauly, and Nazriya Nazim. The budget is only Rs 8 crore and more than five times the business cost i.e. around Rs 45 crore. This story is not only about the mutual relationship between two brothers and a sister, it is also about their own strange love stories. Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who years ago had tried to make Sneha Ullal a superstar due to her resemblance to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, have made a remake of the same Malayalam film, 'Yaariyan 2'. The film 'Yaariyan 2' can become a good case study in marketing classes on how a good film suffers losses due to poor promotional strategy.
stain of sequel
The biggest problem with the film 'Yaariyan 2' is its name. Instead of fitting any story with any name in the insistence of making a sequel, if this film had been given a good, creative name it would have been promoted as a love story of two brothers and a sister moving together. Had it been done, the box office result of this family entertainer would have been different. This film is of the Rajshree brand, it has been promoted like an Anurag Kashyap-type film. There was no need to show the girl smoking ganja in the poster. Divya Khosla's character is not even bald in the film. The poignant story of a wife trying to get respect for her husband in the house of her late girlfriend, this poster makes one understand something else before watching the film. The real strength of the film 'Yaariyan 2' is its female actors, who have neither been included anywhere in the poster nor has anyone talked about them before the release of the film.
The story reached Mumbai from Shimla
The story is from Himachal Pradesh. A mother is doing everything she can to make her darling win the beauty pageant and also get her married. The daughter is not normal. He has a history of illness. And, the one who has come to marry her also brings with him a past of his own. This girl has two cousins. Is a biker. The other one is doing a simple job somewhere. Both are called. The wedding takes place and the story comes to Mumbai. There are memories hidden in a closed room here. An air hostess running at the speed of the time tries to use a common man to make her boyfriend jealous. And there is a beautiful girl who distributes tickets at the VT station. She gets admitted to an Ivy League university and still wants the one she loves to hold her back.
The broken script is the weakest link.
The script of the film 'Yaariyan 2' is scattered and to wrap it up, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru have not arranged the first part of the film neatly. The film seems to be running like a Mumbai local train. The tracks also change the story in the same way, Khatar Khatar, Khatar, Khatar. But, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru have had their unique role in the T-series. Whatever is visible in the frame, both of them want to decorate it themselves. Everything from clothes, and styling to baked samosas, diet coke, and Ray-Ban glasses. In an attempt to create a frame that looks like Disney's Fantasy Land, Radhika, and Vinay overdo the decorations, and as a result, it takes too long for the audience to relate to what is seen on screen. Instead of insisting on creating a real-like story in a fake type world, if Radhika and Vinay had just focused on direction and seen how long a motorcycle flying in the air would look good, then perhaps it would have been in the interest of the film.
Effective acting of Divya and Meezaan
Divya Khosla Kumar is the heroine of the film and the entire aura of the film 'Yaariyan' belongs to her. His acting progressed intermittently in the first part of the film and came to its end in the second part of the film. I have already said about Divya Khosla that she is a much better actor than the current actresses like Ananya Pandey, and Sara Ali Khan, she just needs to get the right character and new direction. Hindi cinema also has hope in Meezaan Jaffrey. His stature. Voice and eyes are effective. His pairing with Anaswara Rajan as Ikrooh Awasthi also looks amazing. Yash Dasgupta, who played Ladli's husband, and Pearl V Puri, who played her second cousin, have also made good efforts in their respective places.
Anaswara and Bhagyashree won the trust
Two new faces are discovered in the film 'Yaariyan'. This is Anaswara's first Hindi film and her personality is perfect for the love stories of Hindi cinema. His acting is also good. Apart from Divya Khosla and Anaswara, another actress has succeeded in attracting attention in the film 'Yaariyan' and that is Bhagyashree Borse in the role of Rajlakshmi. Her role is only for one song and a few scenes, but this time, Bhagyashree has left no stone unturned in making the film successful. Warina Hussain's character could have been fleshed out a little more and then perhaps her intoxicating acts would have been more successful in leaving their impact.
