Lok Sabha elections are currently going on in the country. Voting has taken place in two phases. In the seats where voting is yet to be held, all the parties are putting their efforts into the election campaign. Meanwhile, bad news came for Congress from Madhya Pradesh. Here party candidate Akshay Kanti Bam withdrew his nomination on Monday. Earlier, a similar political incident had also happened in Surat, Gujarat.

Apart from withdrawing nominations, some candidates had also earlier returned their tickets, due to which the party had to change candidates. Let us know on which seats Congress candidates withdrew their nominations. What was the reason for the withdrawal of the nomination? Which candidates had returned their tickets?

On which seats do Congress candidates withdraw nominations?

The nomination process for the fourth phase of elections ended on 29 April. Elections are also to be held on the Indore seat of Madhya Pradesh in the same phase. However, before the voting took place, Congress was out of the contest here. Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Indore Akshay Bam withdrew his name. The Congress candidate reached the Collector's office on Monday along with BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola and withdrew his name.

After some time, Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya posted a photo with Akshay on social media and wrote that Akshay is welcome in BJP. Later Akshay also took membership of the party in the BJP office. During this, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to make India a better India. I also want to support them.

On the other hand, Congress has attacked BJP due to Bam's sudden withdrawal of nomination. Madhya Pradesh Congress State President Jitu Patwari said that the nominations were returned due to intimidation. BJP is killing democracy.

What happened in Surat?

Congress lost the Surat seat in Gujarat without even contesting the elections. The nomination papers of Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani from here were rejected on April 21. His three proposers, while submitting an affidavit to the District Election Officer, had said that the signatures on the nomination papers were not theirs. Apart from this, the nomination papers of Congress's alternative candidate from Surat, Suresh Padsala, were also declared illegal. Due to the rejection of nomination papers, Congress was out of the electoral contest in the city. Returning Officer Saurabh Pardhi said in his order that prima facie mistakes were found in the signatures of the proposers in the nomination papers submitted by Kumbhani and Padsala. After which the nomination papers were rejected. He said that the signatures of the proposers do not look genuine.

In Surat, except for Congress, other candidates withdrew their nominations due to which BJP won here unopposed. The election officer declared BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal elected unopposed. On the other hand, Gujarat Congress suspended Nilesh Kumbhani from the party for six years. The party says that either Kumbhani was associated with the BJP or he was completely careless while filing his nomination.

Which candidates had returned their tickets?

Many Congress candidates also returned their tickets amid the elections. One such name is that of Rohan Gupta who is now a member of BJP. The name of Rohan Gupta from Ahmedabad East of Gujarat was included in the list of Congress candidates announced on March 12, but he withdrew his candidature. Later the party declared Himmat Singh Patel as its candidate from Ahmedabad East.

On the other hand, Rohan had returned the ticket saying that his father was not well and he would not be able to contest the elections. However, on March 22, Rohan Gupta resigned from the party, accusing a Congress leader associated with the party's communications department of continuous insults and character assassination. A few days later he joined BJP.

Accusing Sanatan of insulting him, Rohan Gupta said, 'How many contradictions can there be? There is a communicator in charge, whose name is Ram, he had asked us to remain silent when Sanatan was insulted. Rohan said that his family worked for Congress without any expectations. But he was insulted and his self-respect was crushed. Therefore he decided to leave Congress.

Congress candidate refuses to contest elections in Rajasthan

Like Gujarat, Congress candidate Sudarshan Singh Rawat had refused to contest elections from the Rajsamand Lok Sabha seat of Rajasthan. He had written a letter to PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasara asking him to give the ticket to someone else. Later, Congress fielded Damodar Gurjar from the Rajsamand seat.
