The havoc of rain has been seen in Thane city of Maharashtra. Life came to a standstill on Saturday, the season's highest single-day rainfall of 122.14 mm. Three people lost their lives due to the rain. At the same time, flood situation has arisen in many low-lying areas of Thane city.
Thane Municipal Corporation's regional disaster management cell head Avinash Sawant said that the city has recorded the highest rainfall in a single day of this season. As per the data, Thane city has recorded a total rainfall of 2690.40 mm so far this season as against 3164.27 mm in the corresponding period last year.
There have been several incidents of trees falling after rain in different parts of the city, the official said. Also, there is a flood situation in the low-lying areas. Three rain-related deaths have occurred in Bhiwandi city. It is the most affected part of the Thane district.

According to fire officials, an employee of a power company accidentally fell into the river in Subhash Nagar, while a five-year-old girl, Gulnaz Ansari, was washed away in a burgeoning drain in the Diwanshah Dargah area of the city. Apart from this, in the third incident, a person fell in a mine in Sonale village and drowned. Due to which he died.
