Modi said on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the United Nations: Every Indian is proud to see this

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the United Nations Headquarters in New York is a matter of pride for every Indian. He said that Gandhian thoughts and ideals will make our planet more successful. He said this by tweeting.

 

S Jaishankar unveiled the statue

Explain that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar along with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and General Assembly President Csiba Korosi unveiled Gandhi's statue on the North Lawn of the United Nations. Speaking on the occasion, Antonio Guterres described Gandhi as an advocate for peaceful coexistence, non-discrimination, and pluralism.

 

He said that this statue at the UN Headquarters is a reminder of the values that Gandhi followed and to which we must remain committed.

 

Mahatma Gandhi is a global symbol of peace

United Nations Resident Coordinator in India Shomby Sharp said that the Gandhi statue is a gift from India to the United Nations. It is a matter of great honor that the statue of the Mahatma is being unveiled at the United Nations Headquarters. I thank the Government of India for giving everyone this opportunity. Mahatma Gandhi is a global symbol of peace.

 

India completes two years in UNCS in December

By the end of December this year, India will complete two years as an elected member of the 15-member United Nations Security Council (UNCS). Before this, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reached the United Nations on Tuesday to chair two anti-terrorism meetings.

 

India assumed the monthly rotating presidency of the Security Council on December 1. This is the second time, after August 2021, that India is chairing the council during its two-year term as an UNCS member.
