President Election: Members of many opposition parties voted for Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election, know why cross voting happened, and what will be its effect?

After voting, now the victory of NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu seems to be getting more solid. Many opposition MLAs are cross-voted in favor of Murmu. MLAs of parties like the Samajwadi Party, NCP, and Congress voted for Murmu. Many legislators also expressed this openly.

 

There were more than 27 parties in support of Murmu.

 

Draupadi Murmu got the support of more than 27 parties. Apart from NDA, many opposition parties were involved in these. Murmu comes from a tribal family. In such a situation, he got the support of more parties. Especially the opposition parties of the states of South India had already announced to vote in support of Murmu before the elections.

 

Big parties like YSR Congress and BJD were also included in these. Apart from this, Shiromani Akali Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction had also announced to vote in support of Murmu. At the same time, the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha had the support of only 14 parties.

 

What is the value of the votes of MPs and MLAs across the country?

 

The sum of the vote value of all the MLAs across the country is 5,43,231. The sum of the value of votes of 233 MPs of Rajya Sabha and 543 of Lok Sabha is 5,43,200 776. The value of the total vote of MLAs and MPs together is called the 'Electoral College'. This number is 10,86,431. In this way, more than half a vote is needed to win. Meaning the candidate would need at least five lakh 43 thousand 216 votes to win.

 

Murmu can win by more than two lakh votes

 

The parties from which Murmu got support are 3.08 lakh votes for NDA, 32 thousand votes for BJD, 17,200 votes for AIADMK, 44,000 votes for YSR Congress, and 6500 votes for TDP, 25,000 votes for Shiv Sena, 5600 votes for JDS. Are included. Apart from this, adding the votes of other parties including JMM, SubhaSP, Murmu has more than 6.67 lakh votes.

 

This figure is about one and a half lakh more than the number required to win. Several members of the opposition have also cross-voted in favor of Murmu. Thus the margin of Murmu's win could be more than two lakhs.

 

Uttar Pradesh: Burst in Samajwadi Party

 

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had announced his support for the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha in the presidential election. For this, he also held a meeting with MLAs and MPs. Even after this, Shivpal Singh Yadav, who won the assembly elections on an SP ticket, voted for NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. Apart from Shivpal, the discussion of cross-voting of some SP MLAs continued throughout the day. However, it will be known after voting on July 21.

 

Assam: 20 Congress MLAs claim cross voting

 

In Assam also, the wind was seen in favor of Murmu. Here the ruling BJP and the parties involved in its alliance had already announced to vote for the NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. On the day of voting, AIUDF MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya claimed that 20 Congress MLAs have voted for Draupadi Murmu.

 

Gujarat and Jharkhand: NCP MLAs give a blow to their party

Kandhal Jadeja, the lone NCP MLA in Gujarat, also voted in favor of Murmu. Kandhal said that there was no talk from the party regarding voting. So I listened to my inner voice and voted in favor of Murmu.

 

 Similarly, in Jharkhand, NCP MLA Kamlesh Singh also voted for Murmu. He said that Murmu comes from a tribal society. In such a situation, every member of Jharkhand must support tribal women.

 

Haryana: Congress MLA shows rebellious stand

 

Haryana Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi, who gave a setback to his party in the Rajya Sabha elections, has once again taken a rebellious stand. In the presidential election also, he voted in favor of NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. Kuldeep later said that he had cast his vote at his discretion.

 

Odisha: Congress suffered a setback

 

In Odisha, Congress MLA Mohd Mokim voted in favor of Draupadi Murmu. He said that Murmu is the daughter of Odisha. He has always had a good relationship with Murmu. So he voted for Murmu.

 

Why did cross-voting happen?

 

This time the Bharatiya Janata Party played a big bet by making a tribal woman its presidential candidate. Murmu will be the first tribal and second woman president of the country after winning the election. Experts say that the cross-voting people are trying to send a message to the people of their area that they are with the backward and tribal society.

 

The legislators also know that by cross-voting in the presidential election, the party cannot take any action against them. He is not bound to obey the orders of the party. Legislators also took advantage of this.
