On Thursday, Team India missed out on making a record of winning 13 consecutive matches in T20 Internationals. South Africa beat India by 7 wickets in the first match of the five-match series. Batting first, India had scored 211 for four after losing the toss at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Ishan Kishan scored the highest 76 runs. In reply, South Africa achieved the target in 19.1 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

 

Bowlers' flop show, Pant's poor captaincy

 

The biggest reason for India's defeat in this match was the flop show of the bowlers. Experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 43 runs in 4 overs. At the same time, Avesh Khan spent 35 runs in 4 overs. Harshal Patel also proved to be very expensive and he too gave 43 runs in 4 overs. Even Rishabh Pant, captaining for the first time, could not impress. Surprisingly, he got leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to get only 2.1 overs. Along with this, he kept changing the bowling continuously in the initial overs, which did not benefit him much. At the same time, he also took the wrong DRS of Miller.

 

Iyer's catch had to be dropped

 

This is India's sixth consecutive defeat against South Africa in all three formats of the game. Earlier, India had to face defeat in two consecutive Tests and three ODIs on South Africa tour. Shreyas Iyer dropped Dussen's easy catch during South Africa's innings in the match. This is where the whole match changed.

 

After 15 overs, South Africa's score was 148 for three, but Shreyas Iyer dropped a simple catch of Dussen on the second ball of the 16th over. Dussen was playing 29 runs off 30 balls at that time. After this, the game changed completely and Dussen played brilliant innings of 75 runs in the match. With Miller, Dussen put on a 131-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

 

Earlier, Ishan Kishan scored 76 runs in 48 balls for India. At the same time, runs came off the bat of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant, but the bowling of both the teams proved to be a flop in the match. After the match, Pant said that we had enough runs on the board, but I think we were not better in the second innings.

 

Sometimes you should give credit to the opposition team as well. Miller and Dussen batted brilliantly. When we batted, the slower ball was working, but the wicket got better in the second innings.
