Loud explosions were heard in Ukraine's capital Kyiv and surrounding areas in the early hours of Monday. Earlier, the governor of the Kyiv region, Oleksiy Kuleba, said that there was a possibility of drone attacks in the region. At the moment, it is not clear whether the blasts were from the air defense system destroying the drones or hitting the targets.

power problem

Earlier, due to Russian missile attacks targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, had lost electricity for hours. On Friday, more than 70 missiles were fired from the Russian army and drone attacks were carried out. At least nine power plants were damaged in these attacks and three people died. 13 others were injured.

cold increased the trouble

Significantly, after the Russian attacks, there is a power failure in a large part of the country. Ukraine is shivering with cold. People living in multi-storey buildings are leaving their homes and spending the night in tunnels, basements, and other safe places amid rain and snowfall. Russia's missile attacks on Friday have worsened the situation in Ukraine. In the capital Kyiv, more than 60 percent of the population is deprived of electricity and water.

Putin's discussion with the commanders

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with military commanders in the army on Friday. Putin discussed with him the Ukraine war and the global challenges arising out of it. The meeting was also attended by the Supreme Commander of Russian forces in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin. It is believed that Russia's airstrikes in Ukraine will increase further in the cold season.
