Foreign Minister S Jaishankar reached Austria's capital Vienna on Sunday after Cyprus. Here he interacted with the Indian community. During this, he said that there have been extensive changes in India's national security. Much of it has centered around the acute challenges facing the country along its northern border with China. The problem of cross-border terrorism with Pakistan also remains.

The External Affairs Minister also said that India has significantly improved its relations with Bangladesh and has entered into a land boundary agreement with it. This is an example of how successful diplomacy contributes directly to stronger relationships.

The clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers on 9 December

Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector on 9 December 2022. Some personnel from both sides suffered minor injuries in the face-off. PLA troops attempted to cross the LAC in the Yangtse sector of the Tawang sector and unilaterally change the status quo. After the skirmish, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in a statement in both houses of Parliament that Indian soldiers gave a befitting reply to China. The Galvan incident was another incident that strained India-China relations.

improving relations with Bangladesh

Regarding relations with Bangladesh, Jaishankar said in Vienna, "If there is one border and one region, which has improved dramatically in the last decade, it is eastern and northeastern India. This is because We have improved our relations with Bangladesh a lot. We have settled our land boundary agreement with that country."
