The Delhi government will launch the Saheli Pink Smart Card on March 2nd. President Draupadi Murmu will launch it at a ceremony at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. With the receipt of two Pink Cards, women will no longer need to purchase Pink tickets. These cards will enable free bus travel. Only women residing in Delhi will be eligible for this benefit.

This card will replace paper tickets for free travel for women/transgender people on DTC and buses. This will provide free, safe, and convenient bus travel to women and transgender people above the age of 12. This card will be an NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) valid on DTC and buses. Applicants will be required to have a Delhi Aadhaar card to receive the card.

According to the DTC, the online application process will be launched after the Pink Saheli Smart Card scheme is launched. Women residing in Delhi will be able to apply online and receive this smart card. Women who do not have a Pink Card will not be eligible for free travel.

Three Types of Smart Cards and Fee Structure

The Delhi Transport Department has authorized Airtel Payments Bank and Muffin Payments Bank to issue smart cards. Three types of smart cards will be issued. The first will be the Pink Saheli Card, which will be mandatory for women aged 12 and above in Delhi and will provide completely free travel. The second card will be for special categories such as the disabled, the elderly, sportspersons, war widows, and national award winners.

The third will be a general smart card for all passengers, which will function like a Metro card. A minimum payment of ₹120 will be required for this card, and your name and photo will be registered as part of KYC.

Card Issuance Centers

Card issuance booths will be set up at various locations across Delhi. These will include major depots, pass centers, and booths at selected locations of authorized banks.

Plan to distribute free LPG cylinders

The Delhi government also made several other announcements at the launch of the Saheli Pink Smart Card scheme. On this occasion, a plan has been announced to provide two free domestic LPG cylinders per year to poor ration card holders. The Delhi Cabinet recently approved this scheme.

Under this scheme, a subsidy of approximately ₹853 will be transferred directly to these people's bank accounts during festivals (Holi/Diwali). It is estimated that approximately 1.75 million registered ration card holders in Delhi will benefit from this scheme.
