PM Modi holds bilateral talks with several leaders on sidelines of AI Summit, focusing on trade and technology cooperation

On the sidelines of the AI ​​Impact Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with top leaders of Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Slovakia on Friday. The discussions focused on strengthening trade, technology, and strategic cooperation.

 

 

The Prime Minister also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He stated that discussions focused on making AI inclusive and ensuring participation of the Global South.

 

 

PM Modi stated that India supports human-centered AI development and UN reform, especially to give a greater voice to the Global South. During his meeting with President Draupadi Murmu, Guterres praised India's initiatives in the AI ​​field.

 

 

Focus on Mauritius and Sri Lanka: In a meeting with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, an agreement was reached to elevate the strategic partnership to new heights in the areas of AI, technology, culture, and public relations.

 

 

PM Modi described Mauritius as an important partner in India's 'Ocean' vision. Discussions were held with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on enhancing cooperation in energy, connectivity, infrastructure, health, and the blue economy.

 

 

Cooperation with Europe: Discussions were held with the Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini on defense, space, and digital public infrastructure. The recent India-European Union Free Trade Agreement was expected to boost trade and investment.
