After being removed from the position of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha—a Member of Parliament from Punjab—broke his silence today for the first time. While the party leadership removed him from the post of Deputy Leader yesterday, they also formally informed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in writing that Raghav Chadha should not be allotted speaking time from the party’s quota.
Releasing a video on his ‘X’ handle this morning, Raghav Chadha stated, “To those who have attempted to stifle my voice, I wish to say: do not mistake my silence for my defeat. I am a river that, when the time is right, transforms into a surging flood.”
Is Raising Public Issues a Crime? — Raghav Chadha
He remarked, “I raise issues that are typically not brought up in Parliament; but is raising issues concerning the public truly a crime? I ask this question because the Aam Aadmi Party has instructed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat not to grant Raghav Chadha the opportunity to speak in Parliament.”
Raghav Chadha continued, “Why would anyone wish to impose a ban on my speaking? Whenever I speak, I speak on behalf of the common man. I highlighted issues regarding deliveries by Zomato and Blinkit; I raised the issue of toll charges; and I brought up the matter of bank fees and how telecom companies repeatedly extract money from consumers under the guise of recharge plans. I raised all these issues in the House—actions that benefited the common people of the country. But how, exactly, did this cause any detriment to the Aam Aadmi Party? Why, then, would they not want to stop me from speaking?”
“I Am a River That, When the Time Is Right, Becomes a Flood” — Raghav Chadha
Raghav Chadha concluded by saying, “You, the people, shower me with boundless love. Whenever I raise these issues, you bestow upon me your blessings and affection. Please continue to hold my hand in this manner. To those who have attempted to stifle my voice, I wish to say: do not mistake my silence for my defeat. I am a river that, when the time is right, transforms into a surging flood.”
