New Delhi, March 17 (IANS) Classical dancer Sonal Mansingh Tuesday announced the theme of this year's bi-annual festival is dedicated to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and aims to raise awareness about cleanliness through dance and music presentation.
The festival "Jivan Pani Memorial 2015" is in its 12th year and is dedicated to the Padma Vibhushan recipient's mentor, Jivan Pani.
The theme for this year is "Abhilaasha" (Aspiration) and it will take place March 18-19 at the India Habitat Centre.
"A dancer is not just a dancer. She is a part of the environment. She does not exist in a vacuum. Society and its happenings have an impact on all individuals, especially artists," said Mansingh.
"If an art form does not reflect the existing milieu, it stagnates. This year not only will the festival be on a larger scale, but it will also see a powerful message being sent out to the society. I welcome all to attend the two day celebration of aspiration and 'swachchta' (cleanliness) through dance and music," she added.
