The horrific train accident in Odisha and the death of 275 people in it shocked the entire country. After the accident, the cause of the accident is now being investigated. Railway Operations and Trade Development Board member Jaya Verma Sinha said on Sunday that the loco pilot of the Coromandel Express was conscious for some time after the accident and told that he had received the green signal. Jaya Verma told that she had also spoken to the loco pilot and the loco pilot had also told her about getting the green signal. However, later the condition of the loco pilot deteriorated and he is currently admitted to the hospital.
freight train guard saved the life
The Loco Pilot of Coromandel Express who was the victim of the accident was GN Mohanty and Assistant Loco Pilot was Hazari Behera. Both are seriously injured and both are undergoing treatment in the hospital. On the other hand, the guard of the goods train which was hit by the Coromandel Express had a lucky escape. The Coromandel Express collided from behind the goods train standing in the loop line. Usually, the guard is present in the last compartment of the goods train, but since the goods train was in the loop line, neither the driver nor the guard was present in the train. Because of this, when the Coromandel Express collided, the lives of the loco pilot and his guard of the goods train were saved.
signal failure became the reason for the accident
In the preliminary investigation, it is coming out that it was not the fault of the loco pilot of the Coromandel Express, but due to a fault in the signal, the accident happened. Due to a wrong signal, the Coromandel Express went into the loop line and collided with a goods train standing there. After the collision, some bogies of the Coromandel Express collided with the Bengaluru Express passing through the downline.
TT of Bangalore Express said that he felt some strong jolt but could not understand what it was. The two general coaches and the guard's coach following the A-1 coach of the Bengaluru Express were hit by the accident and derailed.
