'This is a historic moment', said PM Modi on passing of Waqf Bill- People who have been marginalized for a long time will get support

The Waqf Amendment Bill has been approved by the Parliament. After the Lok Sabha, the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 was passed in the Rajya Sabha. The first reaction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come to the fore regarding this. PM Modi has called it a historic moment.

 

PM Modi said-

The passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill from both Houses of Parliament is an important moment in our collective efforts for socio-economic justice, transparency, and inclusive development. PM Modi further said- This will especially help those who have been marginalized for a long time and have been deprived of both voice and opportunity.

 

PM expressed gratitude

 

Thanks to all the MPs who participated in the parliamentary and committee discussions, expressed their views, and contributed to strengthening these laws. Special thanks also to the countless people who sent their valuable suggestions to the parliamentary committee. Once again, the importance of extensive debate and dialogue has been confirmed.

 

He further wrote, 'Now we will enter an era where the framework will be more modern and sensitive to social justice. Broadly, we are committed to prioritizing the dignity of every citizen. In this way, we can build a stronger, more inclusive, and more compassionate India.'

 

How many votes were cast in both houses?

 

After the discussion on the bill was completed in the Rajya Sabha, voting was done after 2 o'clock late at night. During this, the ruling party was successful in passing the bill. 128 votes were cast in favor of the Wakf Amendment Bill and 95 against it. In this way, after more than 12 hours of discussion, the Wakf Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha at 2.32 am. In the Rajya Sabha, 288 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while 232 votes were cast against it.
