It is clear from these statements that apart from China, India is also avoiding saying anything directly in this dispute. This issue has put India in a diplomatically difficult position. Standing on the side of Ukraine, India does not want to undermine its decades-old relationship with Russia.

 

At the same time, there is a crisis that if Ukraine is attacked by Russia, then there will be pressure from the US-led coalition to support India. This situation will be troubling for India. On the one hand, it cannot even support the aggressive actions of Russia and on the other hand, it does not want to spoil relations with the US coalition by going against Ukraine. India's friendship with Russia seems to be going down in the cold war era. Foreign Ministry officials say that Russia is a reliable and tried-and-tested partner.

 

This was the strategy of India even during the occupation of Crimea.

 

Foreign policy experts, referring to the Corona crisis last year, said that when India's situation was bad due to the epidemic, Russia extended a helping hand before America. India did not take any side even in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. Not only this, but India had also distanced itself from voting on the resolution presented in the United Nations Security Council regarding the sovereignty of Ukraine.

The purchase of arms is also one of the reasons for the cordial relations between Russia and India. India has signed a deal with Russia for the purchase of S-400 missiles, which are to be delivered this month. India has always been on the side of Russia in multipolar global situations. Especially during the ongoing rivalry between China and America, Russia has stood by. In such a situation, India does not want to keep aside its most important friend of Asia. Apart from this, Pakistan has also been looking to move closer to Russia for many years. This is also one of the reasons why India is avoiding speaking on this issue.
