The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared a video clip of a conversation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. In this video, Virat and Gambhir are seen interviewing each other. Both ask each other questions while sharing old memories. During this, both laugh and joke a lot. BCCI has written in its caption - An extraordinary interview. Stay tuned to learn how great cricket minds work. Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli came together in a never-seen-before freewheeling conversation.
The conversation began with Gambhir recalling some important moments of their career. Referring to Kohli's exceptional performance during the series in Australia, Gambhir asked him how important that moment was for him. Gambhir recalled his experience of the memorable Test match in Napier in a video posted by the BCCI and said, 'I remember when you had a bumper series in Australia. You scored a lot of runs there and that brought you into that zone. It was the same for me when I played in Napier. I could never do that again. After that, I have never been in that zone in my life. So I can imagine how good this feeling is.'
Kohli listened attentively as he shared his thoughts on being in the zone. Zone is a term that athletes often use to refer to a state of focus and good performance. Kohli then asked Gambhir, 'When you are batting and you have a little conversation with the opposition team, do you ever feel that it is done to take you out of that zone and potentially get you out? How do you motivate yourself or how do you keep yourself composed? How can a conversation with an opposition player affect a player's mental state?
Gambhir immediately took a dig at Kohli. He said that Kohli had faced more on-field fights during his career than him. The Indian team's head coach laughed and said, 'You had more fights than me. You can answer this question better than me.' After this, both of them start laughing. Then Kohli says- I am looking for someone who agrees with my views. I am not saying that this is wrong. I am looking for someone to say, yes, this is the right way.
Both looked very soft with each other during the interview and their coming together confirms that both of them have left behind their old fights and have made a great start as friends. During IPL 2023, Gambhir and Kohli clashed with each other on the field itself. Gambhir was then the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants and Virat was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. After this, the rift between the two was revealed. Even before this, Gambhir and Kohli had clashed in the IPL many times. However, since Gambhir became the head coach of Team India, a great friendship has been seen between the two. Gambhir recently described Virat as the emperor of Indian cricket. Kohli said at the end of the video, 'We have come a long way and have exhausted all the spice.'
