Following the increase in the prices of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders, the Congress party launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Calling the Prime Minister "Inflation Man," the party alleged that the government is directly passing the burden of inflation onto the common people.

The Congress wrote on the social media platform X that the Modi government has directly attacked the budget of ordinary families by increasing the price of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹60. The price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹115. The party also claimed that the price of commercial cylinders has increased by ₹307 in the last three months.

What allegations were leveled against Hardeep Singh Puri?

Congress's media and publicity department chairman, Pawan Khera, launched a scathing attack on Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. He said that on Friday, Hardeep Singh Puri had said that the government's priority was to provide affordable and sustainable fuel to citizens. Kheda sarcastically wrote that just a day later, the price of domestic LPG was increased by Rs 60 and the price of commercial cylinders by Rs 115. Kheda said that whatever Hardeep Singh Puri says should not be trusted.

What assurance did Puri give?

In fact, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that there is no shortage of energy supply in the country and consumers need not worry. He said that the government's goal is to provide affordable and sustainable fuel to citizens.

New LPG prices?

According to sources, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 60 across the country from March 7. The price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder used in hotels, restaurants, and small businesses has also been increased by Rs 115.

Previously, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder had remained stable since April 2025, when a non-subsidized cylinder in Delhi was priced at Rs 853. The new hike will increase costs for domestic consumers as well as commercial establishments that rely on LPG.

Oil Corporation refutes claims

Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation has also dismissed reports circulating on social media about petrol and diesel shortages, stating that the country has adequate fuel reserves and the supply system is operating normally. The company has urged people to ignore rumors and rely only on official information.
