In order to bring the economy of the country facing the Corona epidemic back on track, the government will have to send money to a large population of the country. During a conversation with former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on the Corona crisis and the economy, Nobel laureate economist Abhijit Banerjee said these things.
Rahul's 'Mann ki Baat' on Corona and Economy
Nobel Prize-winning economist Abhijit Banerjee said on Tuesday that to bring the Corona crisis-hit economy back on track, a large portion of the country's population needs to be funded. During the discussion through video conferencing with Rahul Gandhi, Banerjee also emphasized that the Government of India, like the US and some other countries, will have to give a big incentive package so that the money goes into the hands of the people and the demand in the market can increase.
'Money to be paid on the lines of justice'
Gandhi asked if people could be given money on the lines of the scheme of 'justice', he said, 'Definitely'. He also said that if we give some money in the hands of 60 per cent of the population of the lower classes If there is nothing wrong in this. It will be a kind of encouragement. In fact, during the last Lok Sabha election, the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi promised 'justice' on 25 March. Under this, around five thousand poor families of the country were promised 72 thousand rupees annually. Banerjee also said that those who do not have ration cards should be issued temporary ration cards for at least three months so that they can get food grains.
'Only a strong person can deal with a crisis, this assumption is wrong'
In response to a question by Gandhi, Banerjee also said that the help of state governments and NGOs can be taken to reach the needy. He quoted the presidents of the US and Brazil as saying that there is a misconception that a 'strong person' can deal with the situation during such a crisis.
Rahul Gandhi has also talked to Rajan
Recently, Rahul Gandhi had a similar communication with Raghuram Rajan, former Governor of Reserve Bank of India. In this dialogue, Rajan, while advocating a careful elimination of the lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of the corona virus, said that money should be sent directly to his account to help the poor and it would cost about 65 thousand crores. .
