According to the rescue team, Anara and Hayan's mother Tanjira clung to the roof of a house to save them. During this time, Hayan was suddenly swept away in the strong flow of water.
Six-year-old Hayan went 100 meters away and hung on to the wire passing near the well. The rescue team saved him. Mother Tanjira was overjoyed to see both the children safe. However, she lost her mother Amina, and grandmother Pathumma.
300 people have died
The death toll due to the landslide in Wayanad has crossed 300. Around 250 people are still reported missing. Relief and rescue workers are currently searching for survivors and bodies in the debris, due to which this number may increase further. The landslide has caused massive destruction in Mundakkai, Choorlammala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages. It is difficult for the administration to estimate the total number of people affected.
