Wayanad Landslide: A 40-day-old girl and six-year-old son kept struggling with the disaster with their mother, were rescued safely

The landslide in Wayanad took hundreds of lives. In the accident, a 40-day-old girl and her six-year-old brother kept fighting for their lives. Both were rescued safely by the rescue team.

 

Six members of a family were swept away in the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala. Their house was also destroyed. At the same time, the family's 40-day-old girl Anara, and her six-year-old brother Mohammad Hayan survived safely. According to the rescue team, Anara and Hayan's mother Tanjira clung to the roof of a house to save them. During this time, Hayan was suddenly swept away in the strong flow of water.

 

Six-year-old Hayan went 100 meters away and hung on to the wire passing near the well. The rescue team saved him. Mother Tanjira was overjoyed to see both the children safe. However, she lost her mother Amina, and grandmother Pathumma.

 

300 people have died

The death toll due to the landslide in Wayanad has crossed 300. Around 250 people are still reported missing. Relief and rescue workers are currently searching for survivors and bodies in the debris, due to which this number may increase further. The landslide has caused massive destruction in Mundakkai, Choorlammala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages. It is difficult for the administration to estimate the total number of people affected.

 

Climate scientists believe that the rain pattern has changed

Climate scientists believe that the warming of the Arabian Sea is increasing the formation of clouds, causing excessive rain in a short time. Climate models have also predicted that this change will become even more frightening due to climate change. Research findings show that the rain pattern has greatly changed in the last 100 years.
