Ajit faction NCP leader Baba Siddiqui's murder case is getting more complicated day by day. On one hand, this whole incident is coming out from a Bishnoi angle. On the other hand, Baba Siddiqui's son Zeeshan Siddiqui has brought more heat to the case by making a big statement.
Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of late NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, has raised questions on the slum rehabilitation (SRA) projects in Bandra in his statement. Zeeshan has demanded an investigation into his suspected connection with the murder of his father Baba Siddiqui.
Zeeshan's statement is part of the chargesheet filed by the police earlier this month in the Siddiqui murder case. He has said in his statement that his father's death should be investigated from the perspective of the redevelopment project and all other angles.
He also told that his father was to be nominated as a member of the Legislative Council and the swearing-in ceremony was also to be held on October 15, two days after Baba Siddiqui's murder.
Zeeshan mentioned the name written in the diary.
Zeeshan has mostly talked about the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project in his statement to the police. However, he claims that it was left out in the police investigation, due to which Zeeshan Siddiqui had also expressed his dissatisfaction earlier this month.
Zeeshan had told ANI earlier this month, I have also come to know that the chargesheet has been filed. We have not received a copy of the chargesheet but we will apply through the court, but media reports are showing that the names of Anmol Bishnoi and Lawrence Bishnoi are coming out and there is no angle of the builder in this and I do not agree with it. I want to know if Anmol Bishnoi has confessed that he killed Baba Siddiqui. Has Anmol Bishnoi or anyone else been questioned? ... If you have an extradition treaty with the US then bring Anmol Bishnoi back to India... The main conspirators have not been caught yet. If the builder lobby is being kept out of the chargesheet, my question is, has Anmol Bishnoi or Lawrence Bishnoi said that no builder asked them to kill my father?
In his statement to the police, Zeeshan said that his father was in touch with many people in connection with the slum redevelopment project. Zeeshan has said in his statement to the police that his father had a habit of writing a diary and on the day his father was murdered, a particular name was written in his diary.
BJP worker Mohit Kambhoj's name coming to the fore
Zeeshan said in his statement to the police, many developers were in regular contact with my father. My father had a habit of writing a diary about his daily work. I came to know that around 5.30 to 6 pm (on the day of the murder) Mohit Kambhoj (BJP worker) contacted my father on his WhatsApp. Mohit wanted to meet my father in connection with a project in Bandra by Mundra Builders.
Zeeshan Siddiqui told the police that he and his father were constantly fighting for the rights of slum dwellers in Mumbai's Bandra area, adding that a false case was registered against them due to their objection to the redevelopment project.
How was Baba Siddiqui killed?
The police had recorded Zeeshan's statements on October 24 and October 25 in connection with Baba Siddiqui's murder. Talking about the day his father was shot dead, Zeeshan said in his statement to the police, "I reached his office at around 6:00 pm and my father reached the office at around 7:00 pm and at around 9:00 pm Zeeshan Siddiqui felt hungry and told his father that he would come after 10 to 15 minutes."
When Zeeshan Siddiqui was at a restaurant near the Collector's Office in the Bandra East area, a party worker told him that his father had been shot and was taken to Lilavati Hospital. Zeeshan Siddiqui also reached there and told his mother and sister about this. As soon as Zeeshan and his family reached the hospital, they were told that Baba Siddiqui had been taken to the ICU. He died during treatment.
Zeeshan contested the assembly elections from Bandra East assembly constituency as an NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) candidate in last year's assembly elections, in which he lost.
Police filed a 4500-page charge sheet.
It is worth noting that the police have filed a 4,500-page charge sheet in this case, in which a case has been registered against 26 accused. In this charge sheet, Shubham Lonkar, Yasin Akhtar, and Anmol Bishnoi have been described as wanted accused. All the accused have been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) and they are currently in judicial custody.
