The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh. The department has issued an orange alert for these seven states from August 21 to 24.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm in Himachal and Uttarakhand. Also said that during this time there is a possibility of flood and landslide in the affected areas. Apart from this, warnings have also been issued for thunderstorms and lightning.
Both these states have witnessed major devastation due to heavy rains and landslides in the last few weeks. More than 250 people have lost their lives in these states and property worth crores of rupees has also been damaged. In western Uttar Pradesh, too, heavy rains ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm are expected on August 22 and 23.
There may be heavy rains in eastern UP from 21 to 24 August. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains for the next three days in Rajasthan as well as in the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram.
