Apple may make every fourth iPhone in India by 2025. Analysts at JPMorgan said on Wednesday that the tech giant is looking to shut down its production in China amid rising geopolitical tensions and lockdowns. By 2025, it could export 25 percent of all Apple products, including Macs, iPads, Apple Watches and AirPods, out of China. Currently, the company manufactures 5 percent of its products outside China.
Analysts say that India is the second largest smartphone market in the world after China. The company can make 5 percent of the total production of iPhone 14 in India by the end of this year.
Apple is making iPhones in India in 2017 in collaboration with Wistron and later Foxconn, as part of the Indian government's efforts to promote local manufacturing, he said.
Gokul Hariharan, the principal analyst at JP Morgan, says that because of Taiwanese vendors such as Han Hai and Pegatron, Apple wants to move its production facility to India.
