Cyclone Montha has begun to make landfall, bringing heavy rain to the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in the districts of Kasaragod, Kozhikode, and Kannur in Kerala. The Meteorological Department has stated that these districts may receive between 115 mm and 204 mm of rain within 24 hours. A yellow alert for rain has been issued for Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and Alappuzha. The Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds across the state.

The deceased has been identified as Paul Devasiya, a resident of Arthunkal. Paul had gone fishing on Monday morning, but his boat capsized due to strong winds. Fellow fishermen pulled him out of the water, but he later died.
