Less than six months are left for the Karnataka assembly elections, but before the elections, the BJP government of Basavaraj Bommai in the state seems to be surrounded by allegations. The latest case is the allegation of data theft of voters. Where an NGO from Bengaluru has been accused of stealing voter's data under the guise of voters' awareness. After the matter came to the fore, Congress accused the ruling BJP that this NGO has links with IT, Minister Ashwat Narayan, in the government, Congress registered a police case against CM Basavaraj Bommai and the BBMP commissioner.

The NGO which has collected the data of voters under the guise of voter awareness is an NGO named Chilume in Malleshwaram. Where IT Minister Ashwat Narayan is also an MLA. This NGO contacted BBMP and said that it wants to conduct a voter awareness campaign before next year's assembly elections and they will do this work free of cost. In this regard, the BBMP Commissioner, who is also the District Election Officer, on August 20 allowed the NGO to conduct an awareness campaign and check the voter list in the presence of the Election Officer.

What was the allegation against the NGO?

The first allegation against this NGO was that it had given its field officer a fake government ID card of a block-level officer, with the help of which he had collected all the critical data of voters in the name of voters' awareness. Instead of sharing this data with BBMP or Election Commission, it was uploaded in its app called Digital Samiksha. Along with this, this organization runs 2 more companies that do the work of election management of political parties and leaders.

Earlier, this NGO first did this work in the Mahadevapura assembly constituency, after which it was entrusted with the work of all 28 seats in Bengaluru. When this matter came to the knowledge, BBMP took immediate action and issued a press release on Wednesday informing that since this NGO ignored the rules, the work given to them is canceled.

What did Congress accuse the Bommai government of?

Congress was already accusing the Bommai government of 40% commission, he says that he got information about this scam two months ago and now he is collecting evidence. In Shivaji Nagar, a Muslim-majority area of Bengaluru, the team of this NGO came posing as fake block officers and targeted only those people who could be Congress supporters.

The names of many of these Muslim people were deleted from the voter list so that they could not vote in favor of Congress, as well as specific mapping of an empty house was also done so that outsiders could be added here. Congress's Shivaji Nagar MLA Rizwan Arshad was the first to find out about this. Congress leaders are alleging that they suspect that BJP is doing this work in the entire state so that it can win the election.

What is the demand of Congress?

Meanwhile, along with filing a police complaint against Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and the BBMP commissioner, Congress has now demanded the Chief Justice of the High Court investigate the matter. On the other hand, seeing the allegations on this matter, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that Congress is making allegations without any proof, this is the bankruptcy of Congress. MLA from Malleswaram and IT Minister Ashwath Narayan said that this is the work of the Election Commission and the party or he has nothing to do with it.

What did the CM say about the allegation of Congress?

The Congress held a press conference on the whole matter and demanded the resignation of the CM. Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala alleged that it was electoral malpractice for the Bommai government to hire a private organization to conduct door-to-door voter information gathering in Bengaluru city. While terming the allegation as baseless, CM Basavaraj Bommai said that the opposition Congress is suffering from 'bankrupt thoughts' and due to this it is making such allegations without any proof.
