The Central Government has approved the Corbevax Booster Vaccine prepared by Biological E Company for the prevention of Kovid. These will be installed to protect people above 18 years of age from the corona.
Government sources said on Wednesday that people who have had Covaxin or Covishield vaccines in the past can be given a dose of Corbevax as booster vaccines. This is the first time that a vaccine has been approved as a booster dose in addition to the dose given in the primary vaccination.
The Union Health Ministry has given this approval based on the recent recommendations made by the COVID-19 Working Group of the National Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI) on Immunization. Corbevax can be given as a precautionary dose after six months or 26 weeks from the date of receiving the second dose of Covaxin or Covishield vaccines for people over 18 years of age.
Necessary changes are being made on the Co-WIN portal for the dosage of Corbevax. This is the country's first indigenously developed RBD protein vaccine. Corbavax is currently being used to vaccinate children in the age group of 12 to 14 years as part of the COVID-19 vaccination program. In the Drugs Controller General on June 4 approved Corbevax as a precautionary dose for people over the age of 18.
