Covid-19: Vaccine will be made in India against another form of Corona, Bharat Biotech will work

The Indigenous vaccine will soon be available against another form of coronavirus. Recently, the Pune-based National Institute of Virology (NIV) has been able to isolate the XBB.1.16 subtype from the Omicron variant. NIV has handed over the development of a vaccine based on this live virus to Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech Company.

A team of scientists from Bharat Biotech Company is engaged in making a vaccine for this live virus in a high-level laboratory. The same team prepared the country's first anti-corona indigenous Covaxin vaccine in 2020 regarding the Wuhan form of coronavirus. A senior scientist at the New Delhi-based Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that the XBB.1.16 subform was first seen in India this year. Since last March till now, this pattern is being seen in more than 40 percent of cases.

Here is the genomic data of the new subtype

Scientists have also shared the genomic data of the XBB.1.16 sub-variant, according to which this form of the virus was found in 44.4 percent of corona patients in May last and now in June. The statistics of the last 16 weeks are showing that this sub-variant is on the rise. Between June 1 and 25, 55.6 percent of patients found corona infected have been affected by this sub-variant, which is confirming almost every second patient.

Information was also given to the Group of Ministers

In the cabinet meeting held on May 17, ICMR informed the Group of Ministers that the team of scientists of NIV is isolating the new form of coronavirus so that it can be handed over to Bharat Biotech Company for developing the vaccine, which will be the first of ICMR. The agreement is done.

Similar to the XBB.1.5 subvariant...It is very similar to the XBB.1.5 subvariant, but XBB.1.16 has additional mutations in the spike protein. This means that people who have been vaccinated earlier can also catch it. This is the reason that Indian scientists have thought of making a vaccine against this subform as well. Scientists believe that the current situation in the country is quite controlled. In the last 24 hours, 80 new cases have been reported while there are 1670 active cases.
