The water level of Yamuna in Delhi's Wazirabad has remained low for the last few days, causing water scarcity in some areas of the city. At the same time, according to the Jal Board, this situation will continue till the water level of Yamuna in Wazirabad becomes normal. This situation can continue for the next few days as well, in such a situation people should use water carefully and if needed they can call on the helpline number and call for tankers.
On the other hand, Delhi Jal Board says on this whole matter that this situation has arisen due to less water being released from Haryana. Due to this, the water supply from Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla water treatment plants has been reduced. Due to this, the drinking water supply has been affected in many areas of Delhi including the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
According to the Delhi Jal Board, the water level of Yamuna near Wazirabad should be 674.50 feet. A day earlier, the Jal Board had issued a statement saying that due to less release of water from Haryana, the water level had come down to 670.40 feet on Saturday.
The Jal Board says that there has been no improvement in the water level so far. The water level remained about four feet below normal. Jal Board lifts 80 percent of water from the Yamuna for Wazirabad and Chandrawal water treatment plants. About 20 percent of the water reaches both plants through the Moonak Canal. From these two plants, water also reaches the Okhla water treatment plant.
