In such a situation, it is believed that Gill is out of the first match. Now the biggest question is who will play in place of Gill against Australia on Sunday? Ishan Kishan can join the team

The team management would not want to take any risk regarding Shubman Gill. In such a situation, it is considered certain that left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan will play in his place. He has faced fast bowlers in practice sessions. Kishan batted in the nets against Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. However, he did not appear comfortable during this period. Rahul Dravid kept an eye on Kishan during this period.

 

Ishan Kishan has also opened for the Indian team before. He has played 25 matches so far. During this period his average has been 44.30. Ishaan has 886 runs in his name. He has scored one century and seven half-centuries. Kishan has scored three half-centuries in five ODIs this year.

 

Rahul can also be an option

Captain Rohit Sharma can also try wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul in the opening. Rahul has opened with Rohit Sharma for a long time. He has played 61 matches and during this period he has scored 2291 runs at an average of 47.72. Rahul has six centuries and 15 half-centuries to his name. Rahul has batted in the middle order in recent times and has performed well. Now it remains to be seen whether Rohit Sharma tampers with the middle order and gets Rahul to open or goes with Ishaan.

 

Ashwin is also sure to play

Looking at the Chennai pitch, it is believed that experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin can also play in the first match. He will form a spin trio along with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. Ashwin bowled for a long time in the nets in partnership with Jadeja. If Ashwin plays then Mohammed Shami will have to sit out. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami will be the main fast bowlers.
