India once again raised its voice in the United Nations meeting to protect women's rights and human values in Afghanistan. In a high-level meeting held in Geneva, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Afghanistan is passing through a challenging phase. India being a neighbor is closely monitoring the situation here.
Jaishankar further said, according to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the poverty level in Afghanistan is at risk of rising from 72% to 97%. In such a situation, it can have disastrous consequences for regional stability.
People should be allowed to travel without restriction
The Indian External Affairs Minister further said that due to political, economic, social, and security reasons, there has been a big change in human needs here. Because of this, it is important that the issue of travel and safe passage, which may hinder humanitarian aid, is resolved immediately. Those who want to travel in and out of Afghanistan should be provided such facilities without any hindrance so that people can get the facility of movement without any restriction.
India will always stand for Afghans
Jaishankar said that the regular commercial operation of Kabul airport will make it easier to send aid to other countries as well. Development projects in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan complement the friendship with India. Even in this emergency, India stood with the people of Afghanistan like a friend and will continue to do so. The international community should also strongly support Afghans to build a better environment.
UN will provide 147.26 crores for humanitarian aid
