The two policemen killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen on December 3 in the Khanewal district of Pakistan's Punjab province were officers of the country's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). On the day of the attack, police claimed that the two dead officers were attached to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the provincial police. The FIR registered in the case revealed that both the ISI officers were working to bust a terror network in South Punjab. The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Khorasan, a terror group linked to Al Qaeda, have claimed responsibility for the attack.

After having tea, they all went to the parking lot, when informer Umar Khan suddenly pulled out a gun and shot both the officers. The CTD has registered a case against the suspect and his accomplices under the charges of murder and terrorism. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
