Today the wait for voting in the great festival of democracy is over. Voting for the first phase has started today (Friday) for 102 Lok Sabha seats in 21 states and union territories. Today is not only a time of examination for 1625 candidates, but it is also a test for 16.63 crore voters that they should not let their enthusiasm cool down even in the scorching heat and vote as much as possible.
In this first phase of elections, the fate of eight Union Ministers, two former Chief Ministers, and one former Governor will also be decided. Along with this, voting will also be held for the assembly in Arunachal Pradesh (60 seats) and Sikkim (32 seats). The Election Commission has deployed 18 lakh employees to conduct the first phase of elections peacefully. Along with this, a large number of security personnel have also been deployed.
Out of the 21 states and union territories included in the first phase, there are 10 states and union territories in which voting will be held on all the seats. Of these, a maximum of 39 seats are from Tamil Nadu alone. Apart from this, five seats of Uttarakhand are included. The popular seats for which voting will be held in the first phase include Nagpur, Chhindwara, Pilibhit, Chennai South, Chennai Central Coimbatore etc. In the first phase, 35.67 lakh voters will cast their votes for the first time. Apart from this, the number of young voters in the age group of 20-29 years is 3.51 crore.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, UPA won 45 out of these 102 seats and NDA won 41 seats. Of these, six seats have been reorganized after delimitation. Last time there was 67.4 percent voting in the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission has also appealed to the people to come out to vote as much as possible. Extensive arrangements have been made for this.
