Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Israel starting Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also eagerly awaiting PM Modi's visit. He described PM Modi's visit as a historic moment and said that it reflects the strong ties between the two countries. At the start of the weekly government meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said, "Relations between Israel and global power India have strengthened in recent years. PM Modi and I are personal friends. We often talk on the phone and visit each other." He said PM Modi's upcoming visit will strengthen bilateral cooperation in the economic, diplomatic, and security sectors.
What will be special about PM Modi's visit to Israel?
The Israeli Prime Minister stated that during his visit, PM Modi will address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, and participate in an innovation program in Jerusalem. He will also visit Yad Vashem, Israel's official memorial to Holocaust victims. Netanyahu stated that the two countries will also discuss promoting cooperation in high-tech areas, including AI and quantum computing.
Last week, India hosted the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, the first international AI summit in the Global South. In a post shared on social media, Netanyahu described PM Modi's visit to Israel as historic.
He wrote, "The relationship between Israel and India is a powerful alliance between two global leaders. We are partners in innovation, security, and a shared strategic vision. Together, we are building a coalition of nations committed to stability and progress. From artificial intelligence to regional cooperation, our partnership is reaching new heights. Looking forward to seeing you in Jerusalem, PM Modi."
The Israeli Ambassador said, "Both countries are building the future together."
This will be PM Modi's second visit to Israel. He previously visited Israel in 2017. Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, said, "This is an exciting moment for India-Israel relations." We look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi to Israel. When India and Israel come together, it's not just meetings; it's a partnership based on trust, driven by innovation, and a clear understanding of the challenges of our time.
Reuven Azar said, "The world is changing rapidly, and threats are growing. To address these challenges, we will strengthen our bilateral ties through security agreements. We will also advance cooperation in transportation, water, agriculture, and education. India and Israel are not just partners, but true friends, building the future together."
