The T20 World Cup 2024 is being organized under the hosting of America and West Indies. India has made a good start to its campaign by defeating Ireland. On Wednesday, the Indian team won by eight wickets at Nassau County Stadium in New York. After this match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed disappointment over the pitch. He expressed displeasure over the drop in pitch of New York.

 

After losing the toss and batting first, the Ireland team was reduced to 96 runs in 16 overs. In response, Team India achieved the target by losing two wickets in 12.2 overs. In its first match, the Indian team defeated Ireland by eight wickets at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. In this match, captain Rohit Sharma scored 52 runs in 37 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. However, he retired hurt.

After the match, Rohit said, "New ground, new venue and we wanted to see how it feels to play here. I think the pitch is not yet settled and was helping the bowlers a lot. In such a situation, it was important to stick to your basics and remember Test match bowling."

 

In this match, Rohit retired hurt after getting injured in his hand. The captain getting injured before the important match against Pakistan is a matter of concern for India. However, the veteran batsman said that he had suffered a minor injury. Let us tell you that the Indian team will play its second match against Pakistan on June 9.

 

Indian bowlers wreaked havoc

 

Indian bowlers performed lethally against Ireland. For India, Arshdeep Singh took two wickets for 35 runs in four overs while Hardik Pandya took three wickets for 27 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets for six runs in three overs and Mohammad Siraj took one wicket for 13 runs in three overs.

 

Rohit said, "Arshdeep is adept at creating rhythm by swinging the ball against right-handed batsmen. I don't think four spinners can be fielded on such a ground. If the conditions are favorable to the fast bowlers, then only they will play. The spinners will do their job later in the tournament. We will make changes according to the needs of the team."
