The biggest hurdle in resolving the deadlock between the agitating farmers and the government is the legal guarantee on procurement at MSP. However, the truth is that during the tenure of the Modi government, not only has there been a record increase in MSP, but a large number of farmers have also been included in the scope of government procurement. The Modi government has paid Rs 7.78 lakh crore more to farmers on paddy and about Rs 3.18 lakh crore more on wheat as compared to the 10 years of the previous UPA government. More than Rs 12,18,156 crore was spent on the MSP of paddy in the Modi government compared to Rs 4,40,496.78 crore in the UPA government. About Rs 2,26,813 crore was spent on wheat during the tenure of the UPA government, while Rs 5,44,332 crore was spent during the tenure of the Modi government.
100 percent increased capacity
