IPL has always been special for cricketers, but this time it will be different. Along with the title, the eyes of leading Indian cricketers will also be on the T20 World Cup team. Especially Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant making a comeback, Ishan Kishan who is in controversy, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel who made an impact in the England Test series, leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, Lucknow's Ravi Bishnoi, KKR's Rinku Singh, Lucknow Supergiants captain KL Rahul, CSK all-rounder Shivam Dubey, Punjab wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma will leave no stone unturned to impress the selectors with their performances. The performance shown by these cricketers in the first phase of IPL will attract the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.
All eyes will be on Virat
The team for the T20 World Cup to be held in West Indies and America from June 1 is to be selected before May 1. If sources are to be believed, the selection committee has prepared the outline of the team, but the selectors will test the performance of some cricketers in the IPL. These include Virat Kohli, who scored 4037 runs in 117 T-20 matches. Virat played his last T20 International against Afghanistan on January 17 in Bengaluru, in which he was out for zero.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has already announced the appointment of Rohit Sharma as the captain of the team in the World Cup, but he did not give a satisfactory answer on Virat Kohli. Virat can cement his selection in the team by playing tremendous innings for RCB in this IPL.
Most competition among wicketkeeper-batsmen
The most competition for selection is among wicketkeeper-batsmen. Delhi captain Pant has also jumped into this. Dhruv Jurel, Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul are also in the fray. Two wicketkeeper-batsmen can also be selected for the team. Coach Rahul Dravid has already said about Ishaan that he will have to put pressure on the selectors with his performance.
Although he has been dropped from the central contract for not playing Ranji matches, he will leave no stone unturned to satisfy the board with his performance. Similarly, Shreyas Iyer and Rituraj Gaikwad will also stake their claim for selection with their performance.
Rahul's good performance will be rewarded by selection in the World Cup team: Langer
Lucknow Supergiants coach Justin Langer said- If the team (Lucknow) does well then everyone will get its reward. If KL (Rahul) leads Lucknow to the IPL title as captain, it means that he must have done good captaincy, wicket-keeping, and batting. Like KL, Ravi Bishnoi's opportunities for the T20 World Cup team will also increase.
Everyone would like to keep Virat in the World Cup team: Smith
Australian cricketer Steve Smith said- Virat loves playing in pressure situations. He is the kind of cricketer everyone would want to have in their team for a high-pressure tournament like the World Cup. Here you need an experienced cricketer who can handle pressure situations and Virat is one of them. He plays according to the conditions, where having a very high strike rate does not matter.
